FY 2025 Emergency Planning for Juvenile Justice Residential Facilities
What Does it Fund? This program supports the development, implementation and improvement of emergency planning activities for state, Tribal, county, and local juvenile justice residential facilities. Funding will help ensure that facilities are prepared to prioritize the safety and well-being of youth and staff, keep families informed, continue operations, and reduce risk to the facility during and after an emergency. FY 2025 National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI)
What Does it Fund? The purpose of this program is to reduce sexual assault and violent crime, hold violent offenders accountable, and deliver support and justice for victims resulting from significant backlogs of unsubmitted and partially tested sexual assault kits (SAKs). Funding will provide resources and support to criminal justice agencies in their efforts to improve their jurisdictional response to sexually motivated crimes. Click here for more information.

What Does it Fund? This program provides competitive funding to states and units of local government to help improve forensic science and medical examiner/coroner services. Projects must result in a demonstrated improvement over current operations in forensic science or medical examiner/coroner services provided in the state or local jurisdiction. FY 2025 Prosecuting Cold Cases using DNA
What Does it Fund? The purpose of this funding is to increase the rate of violent cold case crime prosecutions in cases where suspect DNA has already been identified. This funding supports investigative and prosecutorial activities, as well as crime and forensic analyses, that could lead to the successful prosecution of violent cold cases. The purpose of this program is to ensure the availability of fair and impartial justice to individuals that may have been unjustly convicted by providing funding to assist in defraying the costs associated with postconviction case review, evidence location, and DNA testing in violent felony cases where the results of such testing might show actual innocence.
